Field Trip to the Middle School

We will be going on a field trip to Lincoln Middle School on April 5th.

We will spend the day going to classes, exploring the library,

eating lunch, going on a tour of the school and having P.E.  The students will also get to meet Mr. McCasline (the principal).  It should be an exciting day!

Parents are welcome to join us for just a short time or for all day.  If you have questions, please feel free to call or email me.

*Test Alert!!

Next week (Thursday, March 22nd) we will be having our 50 states and

regions test.  The students are responsible for knowing where all 50 states are located.  They should be able to also name the regions.

There will be no other homework during the week before spring break.

Just a few reminders…..

1.  Our lost and found is very full right now.  Please remind our students to check it for lost items.  All unclaimed items will be donated on Friday, March 16.

2.  Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, March 16th.

3.  All adults who come to the building, must sign in at the office and wear a volunteer badge while in the building.  Thanks for helping us keep our kids safe.

Attention Everyone!!

I have added a new page to my blog.  It is a calendar page.  I will try to keep it up to date with all the latest announcements.  I’m hoping this will help you keep your calendars up to date as well.

Thanks!!

Room 12 Halloween Party

We will be having a Halloween party in our class on Monday October 31st.  The kids are welcome to bring their costumes to school with them and change into them after lunch.  We will be taking part in the “Serpentine” to parade our costumes around the school and then we will have treats in the classroom afterwards.   All the fun will begin at around 1:30 and will last until “go home time” at 2:30.  If you would like to attend the party, parents are always welcome.

We are in need of some snacks and drinks for the party as well at cups and paper plates.  I find that there is so much candy around at this time of year that chips and crackers are a nice substitute for candy.  Also remember that at Bohemia we are asked to offer a  “healthy snack” at times when other treats are served.  Please feel free to send in your class donations for the party with your students.  I have an area where we can keep treats until the party.  Thank for your participation in our Halloween party.

Happy Boss’ Day…..Mrs. Lester

Our poet for October is Emily Dickinson and the artist is Edward Hopper.  Most kids did a great job memorizing their poems last month.  Let’s keep up the good work.

Poets and Artists

This year we will be learning about a different poet and artist each month.  This will include a bio presentation and looking at the artist’s work.  For the poet I will read several poems written by the poet.  Room 12 students will also be memorizing a poem from each poet.  They will be able to pick their poem and will need to present it in front of the class once a month.  The poem is worth 5 points of their writing grade.  Please check in with your child and make sure they have presented their first poem by this Friday, Sept. 30th.
