welcome

Are you ready for a great school year?  We are gearing up at Latham for a great year, and are very eager for students to come back and dig in to learning again.  I am excited to work with you and your students this year, and hope to have the chance to meet you all before we get too far into the school year.  If you have any questions or concerns, or would just like to say “hi”, please call or stop by.

Sincerely,

Brian McCasline

HERE ARE A FEW THINGS THAT MAY BE OF INTEREST TO YOU…

Start of School

School will start September 5th for all students in grades 4-5, and with a staggered start for students K-3 (1/2 of the K-3 students will come 9/5, and the other half 9/6).  You should be receiving a letter in the mail signifying which day your K-3 student will be attending.

Weekly Assemblies

Each Friday, a classroom hosts a weekly, brief, school-wide assembly. Assemblies include public service announcements, skits, songs, school-wide announcements and awards. If you have some time between 8:30 and 8:45 on Friday, please stop by.

Win Lunch with the Principal and other prizes

Regular attendance is directly related to student achievement. Students who miss less than 10 days in a school year are much more likely to be successful now, in middle and high school, and in college.  A flyer about the importance of daily attendance at school will be sent home the week of September 10th, and I encourage you to read it, and to make sure that your student is at school every day.  As a fun incentive, we will have drawings weekly and monthly for students who demonstrate perfect attendance for the week or month.  Incentive prizes may include lunch with the principal, gift cards, or other small prizes.

Running Club

Every Friday is Running Club! Get out there and get fit, have fun with friends, earn prizes and maybe even receive a special treat. Mrs. Boyd hosts this popular weekly event. Wear your athletic shoes and lets try to beat last year’s marathon setters.
