Wow! We made it through our first week of first grade. Welcome to all of the new families and students in Room 20. I am so excited about the fun we will have learning together this year. I wanted to let you know that I, typically, update our classroom blog once a week. I attach the weekly newsletter and I include updates about what important dates or events that are coming up.
I also send out an e-mail to families on the weekend with updates about what we are learned for the week and what we will be working on for the next week.
Thank you for making sure that your child returned on their second day of school with their purple homework folder! It is important to keep this in your child’s backpack for correspondence. I have heard that many parents have had success with storing the weekly homework and the monthly reading log in the folder. I know that you will find the best system that works for your family. It is always worth repeating too that developing habits and routines starting in first grade for staying organized and completing homework will help to set your child up for future success.
Our blog will include photos from the classroom, the weekly schedule, and a list of the books that we are reading. There are also links to many fun educational sites that correspond with what we are doing in class. My goal is to make this blog another tool in your child’s education.
I welcome any questions or feedback that you have for me about how I can better serve you and your family. I can be reached by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 541-767-3420.
I look forward to working together this year!
