Students looking for volunteer opportunities are invited to help the Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council with plant mulching at Row River Nature Park (aka Cottage Grove Fishing Ponds or East Regional Park) this Saturday, May 19th from 9am-noon.  Snacks, work gloves, water and instruction will be provided.  Meet at the BMX track at 9am and look for the event tent.  For more information, pick up a flyer in the counseling office, visit www.coastfork.org. or call the watershed council office 541-767-9717.  We hope to see you there!  VE

Plants are on sale this Saturday from 10am-1pm. The Home and Garden Show is at the high school this weekend and the horticulture class will open the greenhouse during the show to sell plants. Stop on by and bring the family! See you there! ER

The South Lane School District Art Show will be open today from 3:30-6pm in the commons area.  Come check out these wonderful pieces of art from our elementary schools, middle school and high school students with an artistic flair. Setup will be happening throughout the day. Please be respectful of the artists work and do not touch or mess with the art work. ER

Calling on all seniors who are going on to a 4-year college! You will need to fill out a blue final transcript form before the last day of school. You can pick up a blue form from Mrs. Flagg in the Counseling Office or from your Language Arts teacher. Please turn them in to Mrs. Flagg in the Counseling Office. KF*

Sports Release: Please release varsity baseball players after lunch, leaving at 1pm for their away game at Philomath. Varsity softball players need released after lunch, leaving at 1pm for their game at Central. JV track members out at 10:15am, leaving at 10:30am for the district track meet at Sweet Home. Hey, everyone!  The Advanced Drama Class is presenting its annual Scene Night tonight at 7pm in the cafetorium.  This is an evening of short scenes written, directed and performed by the members of the class.  Cost is $2.00.  Come out and support your Dramatic Lions in their last production of the year. All library books are due on May 30th. The last day students can check out books is May 21st. Seniors who do not have all of their library books returned and/or fines paid, will not receive their diploma at graduation. LF*

This week’s “Artists of the Week” are…Kaitlyn Ledbetter and Salenna Seblan. Mr. Ricardo Florez was the teacher appreciated by Kaitlyn last week during teacher appreciation week so she decided he would be the subject of her grid drawing. An animated rendition of Mr. Florez in a goofy pose will join other student’s work at this year’s Art Show this Thursday and Friday here at CGHS. Art one students are completing their teacher drawings and they will be on display soon. Salenna completed a randomly colorful and artistic book for Art II. Her pop up heart and creative pages give you a glimpse into Salenna’s imagination on herself. Check out her book in the display case and the art show this week. ER
